Occipital Nerve Stimulation (ONS) therapy involves applying mild electrical stimulation to the nerves through wires implanted just beneath the skin near the occipital nerves at the base of the head. These wires connect to an implanted battery that generates the stimulation, which disrupts pain signals and may create sensations of tingling or paresthesia.
